When one is nostalgic they are longing for a moment from the past., the past that no longer exist but in that split second they are in the past. A deep part of them is yearning for a moment that once existed but as the yearn they are in a new moment with a past moment.

As we stroll down life paths we make memories.

Notalgia is a one word oxymoron, it can bring feelings of joy and sadness all in an instant. We can remember but then regret what we remember. We hold onto what we want to let go of, It can be a moment we want to remember or forget. It keeps us stuck in the past and changes the trajectory of our future,

As we reminisce, we lose time in this day and age. In our pining of what was, we lose what is. It can be a blessing or a curse. It can prevent us from moving forward when we are longing for the past.

It is comfort and heart ache. It is reflective and restorative. It is empowering and disempowering. It is progressive and regressive. Its familiar and unfamiliar. Its pain and pleasure. Its happiness and disappointment. Its reward and punishment.

When we are nostalgic we can surge or recede. We can have ups or downs. We can be happy or sad. We can grow or shrink. We can awake or sleep. We can lose sight of hope or we can have all the faith in the world.

If one attaches to nostalgia for to long, we lose faith in what lies ahead. In remembering it can close the door to our fate. Recollection can turn us around on our path and cause us to look down the dark path of nothing for a long time, losing sight of the light.

Our fear of change keeps us fastened to the past. Our hope of the future can keep us pushing forward. Our experiences of the past shape our future. Nostalgia will for always be apart of us, its feeds our ego and our hearts. With it we have good memories and bad ones, happy ones and sad ones. We can either suffer from it or have joy, darkness or light, fear or love. It can bring us great lesson in dark moments or the light moments. We have to power to empower ourselves in what memories we get lost in.

It is simply a feeling we had in a moment that once existed. As we relive that moment, we can choose to have new feelings around it.

At the end of our lives it is our only mission to become the best version of our self. The inner journey of self healing has to start somewhere because typically we don't just wake up and say, "Everything is peachy and I am beautiful inside and out." There are many journeys that we have to take to become our best self but once we set off to heal and evolve, our inner beauty will be found.

The inner beauty we are blessed with has to be found in glimpses and it can usually be seen on the difficult roads we travel down. On these dark paths of life its hard to see the journey ahead and it might be covered with; dust, mud, snow or fog. Or sometimes the journey is filled with thick bush, heavy rain or blizzard making and path difficult to see with no clearing or exit in sight.

But the rain will settle, the fog will lift and the leaves will fall, what happens then? What happens when the journey becomes visible again? When it was hidden, what kept you from progressing forward? Will you see clearer? or is the horizon still just a sight line? When the leaves have fallen, will the sun beams glimmer through the trees and shine light on the road ahead?

What path do we take when we can see everything clearly and right in front of our very eyes? When the dust settles or when the fog lifts does this create a new journey? When the snow melts and the condensation becomes ice, do we put our spikes on and keep trucking? How do we become our best selves and not give up when we have to trek so hard through difficult terrain, dark passageways or bumpy roads? What inspires us to keep walking forward, when one might always be taking two steps back.

How do you keep driving towards the end destination with motivation if you are on cruise control

On my own journey, the outer beauty found on the journey kept me thriving to find the end destination regardless the road taken.

The hills, valleys and mountains. The rivers, lakes and oceans. The sunrises and the sunsets. The fog that covers the ground we walk but gives you smudged peaks of the beauty found ahead. Sometimes the beauty found in the darkest moments like a harvest moon or the brightness of the millions of the stars will take your breath away but it will also give you light to find your way in darkness.

In the moments of heavy fog, white outs and trentual down pours it simple gives us a different perspective on how to navigate life and keep pushing through the storm. In the difficult weather it will give use the determination to keep driving to the next destination where the beauty of the landscape will be seen. Hidden in the overwhelm of the storm is the lesson of faith that this too shall pass. A storm will always pass but we are meant to stand in the middle of it on our journey to find the clearing. The clearing is always the best part because you never know what you are going to find on the other side of that opening. But usually faith is always found in the uncertainty. The faith that the uncertainty will lead you home to your inner beauty and your authentic self. The storms of life can lead you to find beauty in the outside world. The beauty of the journey each day will lead us to travel inwards. After all life lessons around found in the world that surrounds us but these lessons are blessings meant to make you stronger, teach you or lead you to your kingdom.

Outer beauty will never be found in clothing, hair, make-up or any material items, they show us nothing about our self. Beauty is found in the world we surround ourself in. Our inner world evolves when we embrace all the intangible of the outer world. We can find inner beauty from the triumphs of the outer world. They are two worlds meant to coexist with each other. The world is a canvas and each piece art shown along our tour can gives us faith, perspective, experiences, courage, clarity, mindfulness, joy, truth and love. All the intangible things we want to feel and find are within our soul inspired by the outside canvases.

Any climate can be a metaphor for life. A blizzard outside can stir up wild emotions, while a light dusting of snow can make us feel magical like an old silk hat. A heavy rain storm can trigger gloom in us, while a warm summer rain can generate playfulness. A thunderstorm can make us feel powerful, while a heat storm might make us feel lethargic.

Any surrounding is a connection to our heart and soul. A sunrise will make us smile in joy, while a sunset can bring tears of joy. A waterfall can make us calm, while an ocean can allow us to see true depth. A hill can give us peaks of life, while a mountain can ground us. Sand will exfoliate, while water purifies. Gray clouds cast shadow, while broken clouds cast light. Dark days bring doubt, while sunshine brings happiness

Whatever road one is on, there will always be out a landscape and weather surrounding it. The message might be hidden in heavy weather but the beautiful world will alway reappear in a different light once the weather passes. The faith is knowing in each moment on your journey something can always be observed on the outside to trigger the inside. These are beautiful blessings of the outside world driving you home, to yourself where the true beauty resides within ones kingdom.

A resolution can be defined as, "A firm decision to do or not to do something." Each New Year most of us make resolutions. We tell ourselves we are going to; lose weight, get in shape, stop drinking, quit smoking, eat healthy or just change our whole lifestyle.

One ponders all their choices and decides to make the change as a resolution on New Years. Our ideas gets fixated around what our life will look like with all these healthy choices we made. We get excited about our decisions but get stuck in an illusion of what it all could look like.

Midnight strikes on January 1st and we begin to execute our new resolutions like waving the wand of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. I mean why not? The wand transformed Cinderella into a beautiful princess! However, what is often the case is that, as fast as we make choices to change our life in a new year, the slipper falls off just as fast, and "poof" we regress back to our old plain life, where nothing has really changed an. Once the shoe falls so many of us remain stuck in our past lives and don't let the fairy tale become our reality.

In the story of Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother represents Cinderella's heart. She is a symbol of faith that shows us that anything is possible. In the magic of a glass slipper, the Fairy Godmother, shows Cinderella the desires of her own heart and allows her to see the beauty in herself just for one night. The enchanted evening with the prince shows her a glimpse of her worth, her beauty, her joy, her truth and love. It shows Cinderella one side of herself that she is worth being if she believes. However, the stroke of midnight and the slipper slipping off were reminders that she needs to accept that another part of her exist, one that shows the truth of who Cinderella currently chooses to be.

Unfortunately, Cinderella goes back to her old life and allows her cruel stepmother, the ego to keep her trapped and suffer. The wicked stepmother is simply a hologram of her ego, which she convinces Cinderella that she is nothing, unlovable and not worthy of the fairy tale.

The prince, on the other hand, is the symbol of love. When he shows up he sees her true vulnerable beauty not in beautiful gown that she wore to the ball, but rather in rags.. and still loves her whole.

So what does Cinderella's story have to do with New Year's resolutions? A resolution is simply a choice to do something or not do something and more. It's a choice to choose selflove! In our lifetime we are meant to become the best versions of ourselves. We all have to make choices to become our best selves or choose to settle and just exist. New Year only happens once every 365 days, and in that day we can decide to make as many or as few resolutions to help us become the best version of ourselves. Each choice and every step forward in the glass slipper, can show you a better version than the one you left behind. Imagine if Cinderella decided not to go to the ball? and she did have a choice. She would have never have found that version of herself and all the potential she has. Imagine if we never made resolutions for ourselves, that can show us our true potential and drive us towards our best self...even if its just for a little bit. Be gentle to yourself when you fall off the carriage. Get back on it or take a different route. The important thing is that for one night, one day or one week or even just one moment you see the potential in yourself and love yourself enough to want to try to get there as permanent stay.

A resolution is simply the biggest act of selflove that one can choose.
