The Sacred Space of Darkness

Within the darkness is a sacred space. This space is your safe place to surrender your ego to the blindness of the night. Our darkness removes our ability to see but provides us with the deeper faith found in the whispers of our soul.

It is the deeper knowing that, within darkness, things are unseen, yet they can offer the deepest insight into our sight and our light.

This is a space where we cannot see our purpose, but we can hear it and trust it. We learn to navigate, sight unseen, toward our guiding light and the dark cavity where our soul resides.

The predictability of our lives does not reside in what we see in plain sight. It is found in the moments we spend with ourselves in the uncertainty of darkness.

Our awakening cannot exist if we do not find moments to rest in the safe space of our darkness. Like human existence, we sleep in darkness but awaken to light. In the surrender of the night, we let go of our conscious being and surrender to the unconsciousness of rest.

It is the deepest part of our truth, and within that realm lies wisdom. When one is open to despair, joy may reside on the other side. While in despair, we have a choice: walk through the valley of shadow and darkness that reveals new insights about ourselves, or choose to remain stuck in the darkness.

Enduring darkness is a period of incubation, much like sleep. It is designed to be a period of transformation. It can signify our shadow work, our womb of creation, or our faith in ourselves.

It also creates order and balance in our lives. One cannot have light without darkness. It is the key to our awakening. It is meant to give us insight into our souls, allowing us to face our fears from a place of love and to know that our light will return brighter.

Facing our fears within the uncertainty of darkness will bring to light the strength of our true essence. In the darkness, we are given the divine opportunity to find the hidden parts of ourselves. These hidden parts lead us toward wholeness and back into alignment with ourselves.

As one delves into the unknown parts of oneself and the uncertainties of life, remember one of my favourite Mel Moments:

“A star will only shine in darkness.”
